Changing Lives and Saving them-Grand Opening of SCALES, state-of-the-art Weight-loss Surgical Center Launched by Two of America's Leading Medical Experts

Take Back Your Life -- Come to the Grand Opening of Scales, a new, state-of-the-art surgical weight loss center in Thousand Oaks, California, February 25th. A wine and hors doeuvres open house reception will start at 4:00 PM.

(PRWEB) February 18, 2005 --
Fact: Over 20 million Americans suffer from morbid obesity.

Fact: Over 300,000 Americans die annually from obesity related complications including high blood pressure, heart disease, and sleep apnea.

Dedicated to combating this deadly illness and changing peoples lives, renowned bariatric surgeons Dr. Donald Waldrep and Dr. Matthew Lublin are launching Southern California Advanced Laparo-Endoscopic Surgery (SCALES), an innovative treatment facility and surgical center.

Both physicians have performed over 1000 laparoscopic gastric bypass and adjustable gastric band surgeries. Theyve also been featured on local and national televisions networks including E! Entertainment Television.

We specifically created SCALES to provide patients the gold standard in both education and treatment," Waldrep adds. SCALES is a very successful, multi-faceted approach to surgical weight loss that includes counseling, nutrition, exercise and a careful monitoring of the patients progress in a supportive environment"

Celebrities including Carnie Wilson, Al Roker, and Randy Jackson have raised awareness of weight-loss surgeries. In fact in 2003, more than 140,000 people chose to have gastric bypass surgery to regain their health and improve their lives, with positive, life-changing results.

Gastric bypass surgery reduces the stomach to a small pouch in order to limit the patients food and calorie intake. The adjustable gastric band procedure involves placing a silicone ring lined with an inflatable balloon around the top of the stomach. After eating a small amount of food, the patient adjusts the balloon to create the feeling of being full.

Patients can lose up to 77% of body weight in the first year following surgery and many obesity related health issues are eliminated or brought under control.

Dr. Donald Waldrep and Dr. Matthew Lublin are Diplomats of the American Board of Surgery and members of the American Society for Bariatric Surgery.
