Application Deadline Nears for Building Arts College; Early Indicators Show Diversity Among Pioneering Class
The deadline for application deadline draws near for one of the newest - and most unique - colleges in the nation. The American College of the Building Arts sees early interest from a diverse mix of students.
CHARLESTON, SC (PRWEB) February 21, 2005 -- The American College of the Building Arts is closing in on the April 1 deadline for application to its 2005 entering class. The College, which will admit 48 budding artisans in its first class, has offered early admission for a number of applicants and will make final admission decisions by April 15th.
College officials note that the applicant pool demonstrates a wide diversity of ages, experiences and interests. Early applicants include prospective high school graduates and individuals who have already earned college and advanced degrees. One-third of the early decision acceptances are for women, and interest has come from across the United States. Applications are available at www.buildingartscollege.us or by calling (843) 577-5245.
Classes will start in August, making the College the newest in the state. It is the only 2- and 4-year degree granting institution in the country that is solely focused on preparing artisans for contemporary careers in the classic building trades. Six majors will be offered: plaster working, masonry, ornamental stone carving, carpentry and timber framing.
David AvRutick, the colleges president, noted today: The American College of the Building Arts is designed to ensure, that for generations to come, this nation will produce building artisans who will help preserve, restore and maintain the nations most impressive and enduring buildings -- as well as apply those skills to significant modern construction. We are excited by the early response, and are eager to welcome our inaugural class in August 2005."
Added AvRutick: Our interviewing process is introducing us to a rare collection of individuals who have tremendous passion for preserving the built environment of this country, and for creating wonderful new buildings that inspire awe and instill pride. Were gratified by the level of interest we have seen already and are thrilled to see it continuing to increase."
