Andy Garcia Honored at the IndieProducer Awards
Veteran actor Andy Garcia will be honored with outstanding emerging screenwriters and filmmakers at IndieProducers 3rd Annual IP Awards Gala in a Red Carpet ceremony at the Writers Guild Theater February 25, 2005.
Hollywood, CA (PRWEB) February 21, 2005 -- Veteran actor Andy Garcia will be honored along with outstanding emerging screenwriters and filmmakers at IndieProducers 3rd Annual IP Awards Gala in a Red Carpet ceremony to be held at the Writers Guild Theater February 25, 2005.
Actor/comedian Dave Foley (The Kids in the Hall, NewsRadio) will host the ceremony at the prestigious Writers Guild of America Theater in Beverly Hills. Celebrated screenwriter Barry Blaustein (The Nutty Professor, Coming to America, Saturday Night Live) will be the keynote speaker. The 2005 silver event co-sponsors are Writers Guild of America, west, FilmStew.com, The Mississippi Film Office and Apex Digital.
Mr. Garcia will accept IndieProducers highest honor for "Outstanding Contribution to Film." Previous recipients of this IP Special Award include veteran actor Bill Paxton and actor/director Jon Favreau.
Each year, IndieProducer creates a unique awards environment in which new talent and industry veterans celebrate independent achievement in screenwriting and short filmmaking. The top ten finalists from the IP Screenwriting Contest and IP Short Film Competition will be in attendance. Winners will receive $30,000 in cash and prizes.
Judges for this years contest include Oscar® nominee Stephen J. Rivele (screenwriter; Ali, Nixon), Golden Globe® winner Martin Brown (producer; Moulin Rouge, Romeo & Juliet), Clark Peterson (producer; Monster), Pam Abdy, (producer; Garden State, Man on the Moon), Ashley Edward Miller (screenwriter; Agent Cody Banks, Andromeda), Brent Emery (Maverick Films), Jon Gunn (producer; Mercy Streets, My Date with Drew), Robert Burnett (DVD producer; Superman, Lord of the Rings trilogy, X-Men 1&2), Jonathan Westover (literary agent), Scott Myers (screenwriter; K-9, Alaska).
The IP Worldwide Screenwriting Contest Award Winners will be selected from ten finalists and honored at the Awards Gala. This year's ten finalists include:

The IP Short Film Contest winners will also be honored at the Awards Gala. This year's ten finalists include:
