The Well Anticipated 1st Annual Houston Black Film Festival is Postponed Until June 05

Regrettably, the festival ran into scheduling conflicts with Conoco-Phillips holding a Rodeo race in the parking lot at Minute Maid Park on Feb 26th. Streets will be blocked off and festival attendees will not have access to the venue until after 1pm in the evening although the festival starts at 8:AM according to correspondence sent to festival organizers from Christine Obrien of Minute Maid Park.

(PRWEB) February 18, 2005 -- Also, the Angelika Theater informed festival organizers that all screens at will be unavailable in order to showcase Oscar films which takes precedence over screenings. Therefore, Houston Black Film Festival screening selections would not have a home during the weekend event. Organizers can't possibly reschedule the number of films we plan to screen at another theater at this late date.

We are sorry for this bit of bad news, but on the upswing it enables us to improve the overall presentation and production of every facet of our inaugural year. This setback also affords us more time and the ability to launch the Houston Black Film Festival as a more upscaled event to mirror the caliber and style a Hollywood production should reflect.

Tanya Kersey, executive director of the Hollywood Black Film Festival announced on February 1st, 05 that the HBFF normally held in June is taking a hiatus this year. However, she is staying on board with us to keynote the Houston Black Film Festival in June.

The Houston Black Film Festival will return to the month of February in 2006.

Taking all of the above into consideration, we have decided to postpone the event until the latter part of June. The exact dates are forthcoming. (Tenatively the 22-26th) We hope that you can join us at that time. Registrations and presale passes are still ongoing.
