Myrtle Beach, SC (PRWEB) February 27, 2005 -- Springmaid Pier, which was named Myrtle Beach's "Best Fishing Pier" for 2004 by subscribers to the Myrtle Beach Herald as well as "Best of the Beach" for several years by Sun News readers, will reopen March 1; a new admission policy will go into effect at that time. Resort guests will continue to have free access to the pier, while non-resort guests will be charged $1.00 for all day access.

The Springmaid Pier is a local landmark and is one of the oldest and longest piers along the Grand Strand. With newly completed renovations, the quality of the pier has been improved both structurally and aesthetically. The newly remodeled tackle shop has been expanded to include a gift shop that offers a variety of family fun items and vacation souvenirs.

"We're very proud of our pier," said Toby Beckham, Pier Manager. "It measures 1,060 feet, and you can get a great view of the entire length of the Grand Strand from the end of the pier. It's a great place for families to spend the day with each other while enjoying all that the pier offers. We're just delighted that others along the Grand Strand hold it in such high esteem."

Set on 27-acres of seaside property, Springmaid Beach Resort & Conference Center is located on the southern end of Ocean Boulevard in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Although it is just minutes from all the excitement of Myrtle Beach, its spacious resort grounds offer a relaxed, peaceful setting for guests and conference attendees.

A family-oriented resort, Springmaid Beach has 1/4 mile of beautiful, uncrowded beach, 4 outdoor pools, 2 indoor pools, 2 lazy rivers, a fitness center, a restaurant, and its own on-site 18-hole miniature golf course. The resort recently completed a $2 million renovation that included the addition of a new Tackle Shop at Springmaid Pier. The Pier, which stretches 1,060 feet out from the shore and offers panoramic views as well as great fishing, has been recognized as the "Best of the Beach" in independent surveys of Grand Strand residents.

Springmaid Beach is home to the Grand Strand's only oceanfront conference center. The 35,000 square-foot facility has four full floors of meeting space, including a spacious 7,800 square foot exhibit hall, and three large ballrooms.
