Cincinnatti, OH (PRWEB) March 1, 2005 -- Cincinnati Arts Association and the Cincinnati Playwrights Initiative will present Three New One-Act Plays: An Evening of Stage Readings on Tuesday, March 15 at the Aronoff Fifth Third Bank Theater in Cincinnati. The original one-act plays to be presented are "Trust" by Renee Alper, "Interview" by Roger Brookfield, and "Where There's Smoke" by Phil Paradise.
Renee Alpers "Trust" is an edgy short play about a Nazi guard who has captured a Jewish doctor whom he believes to be a spy. During interrogation, the guard is injured and both men must decide if they can trust the other. Renee has appeared on stage with many theatre groups, and is a member of the Renegade Garage Players. In 2003, she directed and starred in her original dramatic comedy "Roll Model," about a disability support group (she is disabled herself). Her essay "Never Should On Yourself" was published in the book "From There To Here: Stories of djustment to Spinal Cord Injury."
In Roger Brookfields short drama "Interview," a woman whose son is running for governor agrees to be interviewed by a young reporter intent on the truth about the candidates background. Roger Brookfield has had plays staged or given readings in Madison & Milwaukee WI, Austin TX, Los Angeles, and Springfield and Cincinnati OH.
Phil Paradises "Where Theres Smoke" is a sophisticated drama/comedy focusing on young professionals including a poet and a critic who teach at the same university. The social veneer wears thin after a little too much wine, and poet and critic square off when an after-dinner smoke reinflames smoldering emotions. "Where Theres Smoke" is Paradise's fourth play to be presented in CPIs New Voices Series.
