Death with Dignity for Vermonters
Prof. Robert Ullrich of End of Life Choices Vermont tells why his organization supports the Vermont Death with Dignity bill now before the Vermont House.
(PRWEB) March 5, 2005 -- Prof. Robert Ullrich, PhD., speaks on Vermont Good Politics Radio about why the organization End of Life Choices Vermont (ELCV) is supporting the passage of the Vermont Death with Dignity Act. This act is based on a similar one in Oregon. The ELCV believes that mentally competent dying Vermonters should be able to express their final freedom" by having the option of self-administering medication which would end their lives in a humane and dignified manner".
The bill, H.0168, was sponsored by Rep. Severance of Colchester and Rep. Aswad and Zuckerman, both of Burlington. Recently, a poll by Zogby International, conducted in December of 2004, indicated that most Vermonters support the passage of such a bill.
