Dental Assistant Students in Albuquerque Preserve Smiles

The Dental Assistant students at Pima Medical Institute, 2201 San Pedro NE, Building 3, Suite 100 in Albuquerque went from their campus into the classroom at H.T. Jaramillo Elementary to help the elementary school children learn more about proper dental hygiene during National Childrens Dental Health Month.

(PRWEB) March 6, 2005 -- The Dental Assistant students at Pima Medical Institute, 2201 San Pedro NE, Building 3, Suite 100 in Albuquerque went from their campus into the classroom at H.T. Jaramillo Elementary to help the elementary school children learn more about proper dental hygiene during National Childrens Dental Health Month. The message focused on brushing, flossing and avoiding sugar. The future dental assistants used interactive, hands-on demonstrations to make the lessons useful, as well as fun for the children.

The best time to learn a good habit, such as proper flossing and brushing, is when the children are young," said Luis Santillan, the dental assistant program instructor. A lot of children, and even a lot of adults, dont know the right techniques. We really hope they will take what they learned from us and go home and practice after every meal and before bedtime."
