Pasadena, CA (PRWEB) March 7, 2005
GolfGym, the leader in golf fitness products, announced that they and their parent company KVProductions, Inc, will proudly sponsor the third annual United Warrior Survivor Foundation fund raising golf tournament to be held March 10 at the Brookside Golf Club located adjacent to the famed Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California.
ÂThere are times in life when a person is touched deeply and moved to support a purpose greater than oneself and both my wife, Vicki, and myself find ourselves in that position today, said GolfGym president Ken Pierce. ÂIn the past two tournaments we were glad to lend our support to the UWSF cause by donating golf visors, towels and GolfGym PowerSwing Trainers for every tournament participant. This year after witnessing the tremendous work that the UWSF was doing for the surviving families, we felt it incumbent upon us to increase our involvement with this tournament and this wonderful organization.Â
Following the golf tournament, there will be a program honoring the surviving spouses as well as an address by keynote speaker Rear Admiral Raymond C. Smith USN (Ret.). Smith is the former commander of the Naval Special Warfare Command and led the Navy SEALs in Operation Desert Storm, conducting more than 200 operations of strategic significance while incurring no casualties.
The UWSF is a non-profit, tax exempt corporation dedicated to the surviving spouses of Special Operations military personnel killed in the line of duty since September 11, 2001. UWSF offers educational grants to surviving spouses along with educational counseling, financial guidance, investment planning as well as other programs. USWF also provides emotional support through professional bereavement counseling and support groups in each of the 50 states. ÂUWSF is currently seeking funding to pay for the medical /dental insurance coverage for surviving spouses past their husbandÂs three year death anniversary. Currently, their status changes from Âactive duty to Âretired and they must begin paying for medical coverage for themselves and their children. UWSF anticipates paying the annual premium so that the surviving families do not lack medical or dental coverage. ÂIt is a battlefield promise to Âtake care of my family should I die that we feel should be kept. We are committed to honoring their memory by caring for their loved ones, declared Nicholas Rocha, UWSF President and a former U.S. Navy SEAL.
ÂThe work done by the UWSF is phenomenal, Pierce said. ÂThese brave warriors made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and itÂs our solemn duty to look after their families. Vicki and I feel that sponsoring this event is the least we can do for such a noble cause and weÂre extremely confident that the best use will be made of each and every dollar raised throughout the year.Â
The United Warrior Survivor Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) California corporation. All net proceeds benefit the spouses and children that survive U.S. Special Operations Airmen, Naval Special Warfare Sailors/SEALs, Army Special Forces and Recon Marines killed in the nationÂs war on terrorism.
