The Ten Antiquated Commandments.
Australian author and newspaper columnist R.P.BenDedek joins the debate on the separation of church and state in the USA by calling for a reintroduction of the Biblical death penalty for such offences as children cursing their parents.
(PRWEB) March 7, 2005 -- In an article at Magic City Morning Star News in Maine USA entitled: 'The Ten Antiquated Commandments' http://magic-city-news.com/article_3269.shtml Australian Biblical Chronologist R.P.BenDedek published an article in response to two views published online at Magic City News in relation to the laws and punishments listed in the Bible.
According to the article published March 4th 2005, BenDedek maintains that the modern society's failure to follow the Biblical punishment of 'stoning to death' people who have committed such sins as lying, premarital sex, adultery, working on the Sabbath, cursing one's parents, and being rebellious, has resulted in a useless society that could be turned around by returning to the Biblical punishments for such sins.
He maintains that if children are stubborn or curse their parents, a reintroduction of the Biblical penalties would reduce general crime rates.
In responding to an article which stated that the Bible was written by men, and reflects the prevailing attitudes of unenlightened people during a harsh period of human history, he stated that 'If being unenlightened means insisting on a society of decent people, then let's get unenlightened as quick as we can'.
Rejecting criticism of the harshness of Biblical penalties, BenDedek put his own slant on the reasons for them, claiming that they were introduced because God cared about protecting poor farmers, cared about husbands spending quality time with their wives and children, that he wanted to protect the good names of young women, and that he was interested in children being respectful and obedient.
