Endless Pools Makes a Splash in Manhattan

Recently opened New York City triathlon store and training center contains an Endless Pool. The Endless Pool, a treadmill for swimmers, allows triathletes to train for their open water swim without leaving the city.

Aston, PA (PRWEB) March 9, 2005 -- SBR MultiSports recently opened the doors to its chic New York City triathlon store and training center complete with an Endless Pool. Now triathletes can train for all aspects of their race, including a simulated open water swim in the Endless Pool, without ever leaving the city.

We are pleased to work with SBR MultiSports to install an Endless Pool in a cutting edge triathlete training center. I started the business up in Manhattan where I built the first Endless Pool on the pool deck at Columbia University," said James Murdock, Endless Pool president and founder. That summer of 1988 I worked with Jim Bolster, Columbia mens swim coach and a triathlete, to develop our counter-current swimming machine. He realized immediately how valuable a coaching tool the Endless Pool could be and the feedback available to the swimmer from the floor mirror."

Measuring just 8x15, the Endless Pool provides all the benefits of a full-size pool in a fraction of the space. It is compact enough to fit virtually anywhere, inside or out, making swimming year-round a possibility even in homes with limited space.

The Endless Pool has a smooth, non-turbulent current, ideal for swimming, aquatic exercise and rehabilitation. The pools unique features include underwater cameras and full-length mirrors that allow a swimmer to see their stroke. The immediate performance feedback these options provide make the Endless Pool an important training tool.

"Not only is the mirror invaluable for correcting the stroke production of students, the constant feedback is great for the things I want to work on in my own technique. Its a never-ending process," stated Sheila Taormina, a professional triathlete and Endless Pool owner who began her competitive athletic career purely as a swimmer.

Endless Pools, Inc., headquartered in Aston, PA, a suburb of Philadelphia, was founded in 1988 by James Murdock to manufacture and sell counter-current swimming pools for residential and commercial use. Over the last fifteen years, more than 7,000 Endless Pools have been sold and installed in the United States and 40 countries.

Since its inception, SBR MultiSports, formerly known as Ultimate Triathlon, has grown exponentially. For more information about SBR MultiSports, visit www.sbrshop.com or visit their New York Store at 203 W. 58th Street, New York, NY.
