Freak13 to Jam With Jason Voorhees, Lands Endorsements
Texas-based monster metal band Freak13 have lined out a series of shows with the actor who originally played Jason Voorhees in "Friday the 13th" and have earned endorsements from numerous sources.
(PRWEB) March 10, 2005 -- Texas-based monster metal band FREAK13 has been blazing a trail through the metal and horror underground with a series of major gigs, endorsements, soundtrack and movie appearances.
The band is currently rehearsing a very special horror-themed set list for a pair of shows May 13 and 14 in Los Angeles.
Were playing the Whisky-A-Go-Go Friday the 13th and are doing a bunch of the stuff from the Drive-In Massacre" disc from the double Fear No Evil cd. Lehman who was only 13 when he played the young Jason Voorhees in 1980 is an accomplished keyboardist who will be adding a haunting flair to their already dark music.
You cant get any cooler than jamming with Jason at the Whisky on Friday the 13th," Moore added.
Well, maybe.
The next night the band will be joined by Lehman again at Necrocomicon, also in Los Angeles, which this year will be the 25th anniversary celebration of the Friday the 13th franchise.
The event will include appearances by numerous actors who have played Jason Voorhees as well as other fan favorites from the films including Betsy Palmer and Lar Park Lincoln.
Were one of only two bands that have been asked to come out and play the event and its a real honor. The other is a cool California-based band called Order of the Fly. Its going to be an insane show," said guitarist Scot Lackey.
The band have also lined out a series of endorsements for instruments and stagewear.
Bassist Chester Moore and rhythm guitarist Todd Sonnier are both endorsed by October guitars. Moore plays the October 12 string bass while Sonnier lays down the metal on their Sabre guitar.
"If we're going to endorse an artist, they have to be something original. A band that is going to ignore the current trends and blaze their own trail. Freak 13 displays all the essential ingredients necessary to be true metal masters, and October guitars is proud to supply them with the weapons they need to make the metal world and up and take notice," said Tony Leicht of October Guitars.
Guitarist Scot Lackey just signed a deal with Halo guitars and drummer Shelton Borel is endorsed by Max Heads who have provide the band with a custom FREAK13 bass head.
It just looks too awesome with our coffin logo on it and makes a statement which is exactly what we wanted," Borel said.
Moore also has an endorsement from Crystal Lake Collectibles, a clothing company dedicated to horror movies. They will be providing with the shirts he will wear onstage exclusively.
Ive been wearing horror shirts since I founded FREAK13 onstage and these are the coolest shirts ever. Im proud to wear them because they look so damn cool and its a great way to turn people onto some cool movies they might not have heard of with some of the more obscure films Crystal Lake Collectibles recognizes," Moore said.
Moore will be appearing onscreen in Secrets of the Sisterhood", a New Orleans-based vampire film in which he plays an important speaking role.
The band contributed the song Paint Me Red" to the soundtrack and the video for the song will appear on the DVD release. Moore will also be appearing as a zombie in an upcoming film called The Risen".
