New Designs for Life wins first place in the New York Citys Small Business Awards from the NYC Commission on Womens Issues
Bronx, New York (PRWEB) March 10, 2005 -- New Designs for Life, a training and development company, was awarded first place in the New York City Small Business Awards sponsored by the New York City Commission on Womens Issues and several private sponsors. The business will receive a $10,000 grant-- the first award of its kind given to entrepreneurs through the Womens Commission. The award was presented at a ceremony at Gracie Mansion on Thursday evening. The president, Malla Haridat, was the keynote speaker at the event and was featured on News 12.
The competition had over 300 applicants from all five boroughs in New York City and searched for the businesses who best exemplify the entrepreneurial spirit. Recipients were required to be in business for two years or more, have fewer than 100 employees, have annual revenue not exceeding $2.5 million, and provide outstanding service to the women of New York City.
Malla Haridat created New Designs after a decade in entrepreneurial training and employee development. The company helps individuals and organizations innovate, enter new markets, create new products and services and remove performance obstacles that limit growth. New Designs works with senior executives, sales teams, operation and administrative staff. Ms. Haridats action-orientated management and training strategies have been used at such distinguished organizations as Columbia University Business School and Center for Career Education, the Goldman Sachs Foundation/A Better Chance, Harlem Renaissance EDC, and Black Enterprise Magazines Entrepreneurs Conference. She also coaches women entrepreneurs at Grace Institute, an organization that provides practical business training for underserved women in New York.
