Mosquito Control Experts to Convene in Vancouver to Discuss West Nile Virus

The worlds leading authorities on mosquitoes, entomology, and public health will converge at the 71st American Mosquito Control Association Annual Meeting place the week of 4-7 April, 2005 in Vancouver, British Columbia to launch new products, evaluate research and trends, discuss abatement technologies, and make predictions on the 2005 mosquito season.

(PRWEB) March 10, 2005 -- The meeting will formally convene 4-7 April at the Hyatt Regency, Vancouver. The spread of mosquito-borne diseases is a serious public health issue," Roger Nasci, AMCA president and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention research entomologist, said. As an industry, we are committed to advancing abatement strategies to make mosquito control safer and more effective. That is why we are bringing together experts from around the world."

With more than 16,615 human cases to date in the United States, West Nile virus is inexorably moving into the northwest United States and Canada. Before mosquitoes emerge from the spring thaw, industry experts will talk about how to preempt the spread of mosquito-borne disease, what products and strategies work best, and how to protect public health.
