A local cadet heads to the Air Force Academy having gained experience and leadership skills at Woodfield Composite Squadron, Civil Air Patrol.
(PRWEB) March 9, 2005 -- Woodfield Composite Squadron proudly announces that Cadet Major Teope will attend the US Air Force Academy starting in the summer of 2005 and plans to work toward an Aerospace Engineering degree. Since 2002, he has moved up within the Woodfield Squadron's ranks from Cadet Airman Basic on up to Cadet Major. Along the way, he held various leadership positions culminating as the Cadet Commander. He now also serves on the Group 14 Cadet Staff where he provides leadership to the other six CAP units in the area.
According to Cadet Teope, "Civil Air Patrol helped with the acceptance process since it gave me an area to expand my leadership skills. These skills will help me progress in my military career. I'm looking forward to a new challenge, but I'll miss everyone in the squadron I've worked with so closely."
This 18 year old currently attends Schaumburg High School in Illinois' District 211 and previously attended schools in District 54. At Schaumburg High School he plays Lacrosse, is a member of Math Team including having gone to three state competitions, participated in Science Olympiad, World Wide Youth in Science and Engineering, Student Congress and Debate. In 2003, he was nominated to National Honor Society. He is an active member of Boy Scouts including having earned his Eagle Scout award and continues to work with their Venturing organization. He is also active in the local Lions club.
The Woodfield Composite Squadron has been in operation since 1992 and is based out of Schaumburg Regional Airport in suburban Chicago. Cadet Teope is the fourth cadet from the squadron to go to the various military academies.
