Environmentalist Uses Photography to Make Statement; Steve Anderson's Nature and Landscape Photography, Now Showing at the MAFA-Focus One Gallery

The Artists reception for Steve Anderson Nature and Landscape Photographer will be held Tuesday March 15th 5:30pm at the MAFA Focus One Gallery, 404 East Huntington Drive, Monrovia CA.

(PRWEB) March 11, 2005 -- The Artists reception for Steve Anderson Nature and Landscape Photographer will be held Tuesday March 15th 5:30pm at the MAFA Focus One Gallery, 404 East Huntington Drive, Monrovia CA.

Steves interest in the environmental movement started in his college days and led him to actively seek ways of using his nature and landscape photography to help in a personally significant way. He joined the Mono Lake Committee more than 20 years ago and has been an active leader in the Sierra Club since 1981.

His interest in photography began in junior high school, when he developed his first roll of film from a Kodak Brownie camera. He became very interested in combining nature and landscape photography and traveling adventures as a member of the Highlanders, a mountaineering club at Pasadena City College. His work turned more serious during military service as the landscape became his focus of attention.

Steve worked primarily in conventional medium of black and white silver-based photography for many years as he explored the natural landscape of the local San Gabriel Mountains and his beloved High Sierra. In the last five years he has found that digital photography has opened up new avenues and excitement about making nature and landscape images of the natural scene.

Steves nature and landscape images have appeared in Sierra, the Southern Sierran, Images of the West, A Portrait of Bodie, and the Sierra Club Angeles Chapter Schedule of Activities. He has donated work to the annual Sierra Club Camera Committee print auction and contributed several important images for the cause of saving Mono Lake.

My images in this show sum up my feelings about the grandeur of nature. It is never just one thing that touches me when I try to capture a moment, but always a vast array of emotional and photographic textures. Most of my images are therefore complex and detailed."

The artists' reception will be held March 15th at 5:30pm; refreshments will be served. Steves nature and landscape photography showing at the MAFA-Focus One Gallery from March 1st through April 29th. The Gallery is located at 404 East Huntington Drive, Monrovia, CA. Hours are 10am until 5pm Monday through Friday.
