NIH NIAID Licenses Silanis Electronic Signature Software to Streamline Key Administrative and Human Resource Processes

Silanis Technology, the leading provider of solutions that automate the business approval process, today announced that the National Institutes of Health - National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIH NIAID) is currently deploying the companys ApproveIt Desktop product to streamline key administrative and human resource processes.

Montreal, QC (PRWEB) March 11, 2005 -- Silanis Technology, the leading provider of solutions that automate the business approval process, today announced that the National Institutes of Health - National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIH NIAID) is currently deploying the companys ApproveIt Desktop product. NIH NIAID employees will use the electronic approval automation software as part of an initiative to streamline key processes beginning with those in the administrative areas relating to human resources.

NIH NIAID conducts and supports basic and applied research to better understand, treat, and ultimately prevent infectious, immunologic, and allergic diseases. For more than 50 years, NIAID research has led to new therapies, vaccines, diagnostic tests, and other technologies that have improved the health of millions of people in the United States and around the world.

Adding electronic approvals to key processes helps to improve efficiency, as employees can spend more time on core functions and less time handling paper," said Tommy Petrogiannis, president of Silanis. This enables NIH NIAID to focus on its mandate of preserving health and safety, and supports the Office of Management and Budgets e-Government Initiatives."

Silanis ApproveIt product is initially being deployed to NIH NIAIDs employees and contract staff to automate the employee service award process. NIAID issues awards to key employees in recognition of exemplary efforts and until recently the process has involved completing a paper award nomination form and distributing the document manually to obtain the appropriate endorsements and approvals. This form has typically been filled out in Word or PDF, printed to paper for the initial signature, and then routed by mail for subsequent signing by NIAID management.

NIH NIAID employees will now be equipped with ApproveIt Desktop, which will be used to create a unique, captured signature file, otherwise known as an ePersona file. This file will then be paired with a digital certificate from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). When it comes time for award nomination submission, employees will be able to electronically complete and sign the form, and then route it via workflow software to the appropriate person for electronic processing and approval.

After successful automation of the award process, NIAID will look to expand its use of electronic approvals to address other areas within administration, human resources, the Office of Ethics and others.
