Picture Ohio Celebrates Two Year Anniversary with Two Hermes Awards, Two Shows and

Jim Crotty, professional photographer and owner of Picture Ohio, LLC., dba/Picturesque Ohio, a Kettering-based firm, is pleased to announce that his photography has been recognized with two Bronze Hermes Awards in the 2005 Dayton Advertising Clubs Hermes/ADDY Awards competition. The awards were presented at Daytons Crowne Plaza Hotel on Saturday evening, February 26, 2005. These awards come on the occasion of Picture Ohio, LLC celebrating two years of being business, as of April 1, 2005.
(PRWEB) March 11, 2005 -- Jim Crottys Hocking Hills Poster Print" was recognized with a Bronze Hermes in the category of Advertising for the Arts and Sciences." Crottys commercial photography for the web site and marketing materials of Vue Ultra Lounge, Centerville, Ohio was also recognized with a Bronze Hermes in the Elements of Advertising" category.
Whats exciting for me is the fact that this was the first time Ive submitted entries in this competition, and both entries were recognized with awards, commented Crotty. I also find it encouraging that the panel of judges for this competition consisted of marketing and advertising professionals representing metro areas from throughout the United States other than Dayton. Judging was completely objective, based on the quality of the work submitted, not other subjective criteria that can come into play from judges and panels that are selected locally."
It has been a tough but rewarding two years for me, but whats great about the age of the internet and digital technology is the fact that I can effectively market my photography -- commercial services, fine art prints and stock images -- to markets well beyond Dayton. Just recently I sold and shipped a 30"x40" print of one of my Hocking Hills images to a customer in Milan, Italy."
Currently Picture Ohio, LLC has several framed, fine art prints on display at Lincoln Park Grille in Kettering, Ohio. Crotty will also be installing a second showing of his work at Shapes Salon, 2505 Far Hills Avenue in Oakwood, Ohio on March 15, 2005. One of Crottys award-winning landscape images, titled Winter Walk" has been selected for exhibit at Chantilles Restaurant, located in the Kettering Tower in Dayton, during March and April, 2005, after which the framed 16"x24" Light Jet Print will be part of the Dayton Visual Art Centers Annual Art Auction, to be held on April 29, 2005, also at the Kettering Tower.
Several of Crottys landscape and nature images were recently published in the first issue of Barnstorming -- a literary journal published in cooperation with the University of Daytons Ryan C. Harris Learning Teaching Center. A recently published hardback book titled Ohio Archaeology, by Bradley T. Lepper and published by Orange Frazer Press in Wilmington, Ohio, also included four of Crottys images.
Ive also installed several online presentations of my more recent work within the main gallery section of www.picturesqueohio.com, including On the Edge of Appalachia" and Local Color" -- images from Daytons Historic Oregon District. Both presentations illustrate the quiet surprise of outdoor photography, which is my discovery that the best images are almost always those that Im not looking for when starting a shoot, but rather are those that I find when and where I least expect them."
Jim Crotty started Picture Ohio, LLC as a full time endeavor in April 2003. Since then he has expanded his business to an office and studio as well as expanded his technical capabilities to include large format digital printers, professional scanners and digital camera equipment. In addition to commercial, fine art and stock photography services, Picture Ohio, LLC also provides digital photo restoration, custom printmaking and enlargements from client-supplied photographs as well as writing and editing for marketing communications and publication design.

Crotty grew-up in Kettering where he now resides with his wife and two daughters. Hes a graduate of Alter High School and the University of Dayton. He also earned a Master of Professional Communication from Westminster College of Salt Lake City and completed the Professional Photography Program at Rocky Mountain School of Photography in Missoula, Montana.
