St. Paul, MN (PRWEB) March 14, 2005 -- Business Wire -- Syspoint, an enterprise software provider to Global 5000 companies, today announced the delivery of the Syspoint Virtual Compiler (SVC), a patent-pending solution that saves customers compiler license fees by automating the process of outsourcing customer compiles to one of Syspoints dedicated compile facilities.

One of Syspoints customers, a Fortune 500 company said, Syspoints innovative technology is saving us thousands of dollars per month." The best part is that no control statement changes are necessary, so there was no impact on our application programmers."

The best part is that no control statement changes are necessary, so there was no impact on our application programmers.
Syspoints Virtual Compiler replaces an expensive legacy compiler with an automated front end for FTP, the widely used File Transfer Protocol. The Syspoint program transfers the customers source code to one of Syspoints compile facilities, compiles it there (using the identical compilers our customers are using today), and transfers the object code and listing files back to the customers machine. Application programmers experience little or no visible difference. A dedicated line, virtual private network (VPN), or Transport Layer Security (TLS) is used to protect the customers source code while in transit. A dedicated machine and rigorously controlled access protects the compile itself. No customer source code is stored on Syspoints machines.

In this economic climate, customers arent buying the proposition of large upfront costs in return for eventual cost savings," says Steve Randazzo, Syspoints SVP Sales. Our whole value proposition is based on month-to-month licenses that save the customer a minimum of 30% starting from day one." Syspoints license fees are based on a minimum 30% discount off the cost of the legacy compiler, with no up-front cost.

The first of a family of virtual compilers, Syspoints initial offering automates the outsourcing of IBMs Enterprise COBOL for z/OS, COBOL for OS/390 and VM, COBOL II and OS/VS COBOL. Additional compilers currently in beta test include more versions of COBOL and PL/1. Products in development replace C/C++ and Fortran.
