Three Steps to Portable e-Learning in Dublin
An international conference and research seminar on e-learning will take place in Dublin on 31 March and 1 April, organised by the Association for Learning Technology. Entitled, "Reflective learning, future thinking", the conference will bring together tutors, support staff, researchers, developers and e-learning content managers to discuss how to make lifelong e-learning a reality.
(PRWEB) March 12, 2005 -- It's a two-day event at two universities - Dublin Institute of Technology (http://www.dit.ie) and Trinity College Dublin (http://www.tcd.ie) - and it's also a three-step dance. The conference and research seminar will cover three strands: e-portfolios, digital repositories and ubiquitous computing. Three countries have come together to make it happen: Ireland, UK and the Netherlands; each represented by their key e-learning organisations: ILTA (http://www.ilta.net), ALT (http://www.alt.ac.uk), and SURF (http://www.surf.nl).
Parallel sessions and discussions will provide opportunity for consideration and debate; with the input of twenty-four speakers over two days there will certainly be plenty to choose from. Opening keynote presenter, Professor Lorraine Stefani (http://www2.auckland.ac.nz/cpd/staffpages/ls.html), will showcase the development of a teaching portfolio project at the University of Auckland, New Zealand. Sarah Porter, Head of Development at the JISC (http://www.jisc.ac.uk/index.cfm?name=porter_interview_251004) will close the first day with a presentation on the JISC e-learning framework.
Jen Harvey, Chair of the Conference and Head of Lifelong Learning at DIT, said 'This event comes at a key time for e-learning developments in Ireland. With so much investment now going into the diploma supplement and management of lifelong learning records, international dialogue can help us to find cost-effective solutions which appeal to learners and tutors alike'.
Rhonda Riachi, Director of ALT, said: 'Our fifth spring conference is one of our most ambitious to date. This promises to be another exciting and oversubscribed ALT event.' The research seminar on 1 April is already fully booked.
