Sailing Enthusiasts to Learn Celestial Navigation on TransAtlantic Voyage

Navigation Seminar at Sea offered by new specialty travel service Sailing Ship Adventures. Seminar to be given aboard the luxurious Royal Clipper, a 440 foot full-rigged sailing ship, sailing transatlantic from Barbados to Spain this April.

(PRWEB) March 12, 2005 -- The Ocean Navigator School of Seamanship® and the new specialty travel service Sailing Ship Adventures® are sponsoring a Navigation Seminar at Sea aboard the tall ship Royal Clipper on a transatlantic sailing from the Caribbean to the Mediterranean, departing April 23, 2005. The seminars instructor, John Carlisle, who holds Master & Chief Mate licenses for ocean voyages, will teach celestial navigation, voyage planning, comprehensive electronic marine data acquisition, weather routing & heavy weather avoidance, and ocean track plotting, to serious offshore sailors who are preparing themselves for their own ocean passages

What makes this navigation seminar different," according to Dexter Donham, who launched Sailing Ship Adventures after 17 years in the travel and cruise industries, is the ship on which it will be taught. The 440 foot Royal Clipper is the worlds largest full-rigged sailing ship, offering comfortable staterooms, fine dining, and other services and amenities, in addition to an authentic ocean-crossing sailing experience." Classes will be taught morning & afternoon while underway, with evening sextant practice. Students will have frequent briefings with Royal Clippers Captain, and will enjoy an open bridge policy. Unlike similar seminars at sea, students are encouraged to bring family members or companions not attending the seminar to enjoy the sailing adventure with them.

The sailing may be booked through Sailing Ship Adventures as either a 16-night voyage, from Bridgetown, Barbados to Malaga, Spain, or a 21-night voyage terminating in Rome, Italy. The 16-night voyage stops at Punta Delgada in the Azores Islands before arriving in Malaga. For those continuing on to Civitavecchia (port of Rome), there will be port calls at Palma, Majorca, and Mahon, Menorca in Spains Balearic Islands. Prices begin at $2,999 per passenger for the 16-night voyage plus seminar, and just $1,811 for the voyage without the seminar. For more details, go to: http://tinyurl.com/4czre .
