New Chicago Author, Kimberly Noelle released her highly anticipated fiction novel, There Was a Spirit. This captivating novel explores the life of campus greek life in 1973, when the Black Power movement challenged the validity of sororities and fraternities. There Was a Spirit is already receiving rave reviews from the literary community.

(PRWEB) March 15, 2005 -- "They say there is a story behind every event in history and then there is the truth." New Chicago author Kimberly Noelle captures one of those many stories in her first fiction novel, There Was a Spirit. The reader is taken on a journey back in time to witness a year long chain of events in 1973 that unfold into the unpredictable adventure of Najwa K. Jackson and Omega Pi Alpha Sorority.

Best Selling Author, Yolanda Joe says, There Was a Spirit is a wonderfully written debut novel by Kimberly Noelle. Her writing entices you. The language is colorful and the characters are vividly drawn. This book is a must read." Already receiving rave reviews from the literary community, this insightful look at the impact of events in time is a refreshing read that will assume a permanent place in every readers collection.

There Was a Spirit is my first offering in a series to the African-American sorority and fraternity community," Kimberly Noelle says. The first book follows a year in the life of Omega Pi Alpha (fictitious organization) sorority member Najwa Jackson. Unique, to most fiction novels with Greek subject matter, There Was a Spirit surpasses the fascination of exploring the mystery and sensationalism of pledging, hazing and the quest for membership.

Author Kimberly Noelle explains, Black Greek organizations have made a significant impact in the fight for equality within the African American community. Members of these groups, unlike some other sororities and fraternities, contribute a life long amount of work to the community. They also have a wealth of untold fascinating stories of inspiration, sisterhood, brotherhood and even internal struggles that have strengthened their bond." From this came the inspiration to right this captivating novel.

Kimberly Noelle is a native Chicagoan who received a Bachelors of Arts Degree from Columbia College in Chicago and a Master of Science Degree from Northwestern Universitys Medill School of Journalism. There Was a Spirit (ISBN# 0-9764562-0-6 $17.95) will be available to the public March 15,2005.
