Announcing The Dubliners' Tabby Cats, an All New Feline Celtic Music Group for St. Patrick's Day
The Dubliners' Tabby Cats is a new band that combine cats, Celtic music, and drinking songs for St. Patrick's Day.
(PRWEB) March 14, 2005 -- The Dubliners' Tabby Cats foraged their way out of the gutters of Ireland to create a musical menagerie combining Irish drinking songs with the folk music stylings of groups like The Dubliners, The Clancy Brothers, the Irish Rovers, and "Weird" Al Yankovic. They are the first Celtic music group composed entirely of cats, and they're just in time for St Patrick's Day and St. Gertrude's Day.
The group was formed by Torre and Tiziano Gunn, two tabby cats from Austin, Texas. The idea began when Torre overheard a phone conversation his human, the Celtic folk singer Marc Gunn, was having. Marc started singing the Irish drinking song, "Wild Rover" with cat lyrics, which Torre thought was the perfect idea for a CD, "Irish Drinking Songs for Cat Lovers." A year and a half later, the songs are written and recording has begun. "Mrreeooooww," says Torre regarding his inspiration for the band and their new Celtic cat logo.
Marc adds, "Yeah, I love the Dancing Celtic Cat. Torre told me to make up some t-shirts with it. So I went over to Cafepress, and they're selling like hot cakes now that St. Patrick's Day and St. Gertrude's Day are here."
Most Irish Americans know that St. Patrick's Day is on March 17th, but few know that it is also St. Gertrude's Day, the Patron Saint of Cats. It is also happens to be Marc's birthday. It almost seems like destiny that Marc Gunn and The Dubliners' Tabby Cats would unite to create a celtic music CD about cats.
