(PRWEB) March 14, 2005 -- O2 (www.O2.co.uk ) and mFlix (www.mflix.com) have announced a promotional contest inviting filmmakers to send in their short films for a monthly competition for 'Best O2/mFlix Smallest Film'.
From the films submitted, each month will be drawn three finalists who will be screened to millions of viewers on the O2 network via the O2/mFlix Screening Room and on O2 Active. The best film each month will be awarded with 100. At the end of the competition in September 2005, two winners from the monthly finalists will be designated by the O2 users, for a chance at the grand prize of 1,000 and a 3G phone and the second prize of 500 and a 3G phone! For complete contest information please see www.o2.co.uk/mflix.
mFlix (www.mflix.com) is the first and largest online film community designed especially for the thousands of filmmakers, artists, and musicians around the world who want to have their short films shown on mobile and cell phone networks globally. Films submitted to mFlix and 'The World's Smallest Film Festival' (with which mFlix is associated) are an integral part of the mFlix channel, the first independent film channel made available to subscribers on Americas first national 3G rollout, on the Sprint network, and now also seen on the O2 network in the UK.
According to Beau Buck of BigDigit, which operates the mFlix channel, '...mFlix consistently ranks as one of the most popular premium channels on mobile networks, serving up daily doses of comedy, indie music videos, animation, insider films, and made-for-mobile art, all provided by independent filmmakers. Our experience is that viewers are very interested in content that isnt found on TV or elsewhere, such as that found on mFlix. Between our 'Worlds Smallest Film Festivals; our 'Worlds Smallest Animation Festivals; promotions such as the O2/mFlix Smallest Film Festivals; and filmmaker submissions directly to the mFlix.com portal, we power our branded channels on Sprint and O2 with a dynamic flow of compelling short films with a sustainable acquisition model. Differentiation and sustainability will become key competitive factors in the market, as operators select their content makers.
