"Genealogy Web Site Celebrates Ten Years of Publishing Free Genealogy Courses, Helping Millions with Their Family History Research"

Treasure Maps how-to genealogy site and e-mail newsetter goes into tenth year of publication helping others find their family tree and keeping up with the breakthroughs and changes in the genealogy world. One of the most popular free courses is an eight-part tutorial on Robert Ragan's "Pajama Genealogy" methods which shows vistors: "How to do most of your genealogy research from your home in your pajamas. Using your computer, the Internet, and your kitchen table."

(PRWEB) March 16, 2005 -- "The breakthroughs in technology have turbo-charged on-line genealogy research beyond my wildest dreams," said Robert Ragan who started publishing the Treasure Maps "how-to" genealogy site and e-mail newsletter in 1995.

"There are tons of helpful free genealogy search tips, articles, and family tree information on the Treasure Maps site, but the top three tutorials that are wildly popular are: My Pajama Genealogy course, which shows how to do most of your genealogy research from your home in your pajamas. Using your computer, the Internet, and your kitchen table; the Deciphering Old Handwriting course by Sabina J. Murray; the Guide to the US Census by Judy Hanna Green," said Robert.

"Both Sabina and Judy are genealogy experts in Northeast Florida and their courses have been on the site since the beginning. Millions of people have enjoyed them and Treasure Maps has been mentioned in plenty of genealogy trade magazines, etc., but what is interesting is when Newsweek gave an individual on-line course a nod. Now, that was exciting."

On-line family history research is arguably one of the top five or top ten reasons that baby boomers use the Internet. Treasure Map's mission, particularly through the Pajama Genealogy system, is to make the research experience, both on-line and off-line, easier.

Robert said, "It's fun and fascinating, but genealogy research is most exciting when people can customize their efforts to their unique situation. I challenge anyone to go through the 'Search Engine Secrets for Genealogy Researchers' part of the Pajama Genealogy course and not get excited. You wouldn't believe the positive feedback I've gotten over the years concerning people who used my techniques to find their ancestors on-line. It's what keeps me going."
