Beaumont, CA (PRWEB) March 17, 2005 -- Round 2 of the International Kart Federation Southwestern Super Series held at Moran Raceway in Beaumont, CA found itself basking in the glow of high praise from competitors. The growing numbers of competitors in this well-established sprint kart racing series proved satisfaction of a job well done.

Experiencing a 5% increase in entries for Round 2 over Round 1 of the series was a pat on the back for IKF and Regional Coordinator Don St. Ours who took over the helm of the series late last year and declared 2005 Racer Appreciation Year". It appears his appreciation of the competitors and the crews of the series are mirrored by their appreciation of his efforts.

The race management in IKF Region 7 is quite simply superb," stated competitor Kathy Barton of Redlands, CA. There is unwavering consistency in calls by the race director, grid stewards and tech officials" she continued. Barton is a competitor in the Sr. Super Sportsman Class in the series.

Podium finishers at this event earned trophies and championship series points. Select classes received Liquid Eyewear sunglasses or BAM skateboards by California Skate Factory.

Two drivers made their way to the podium multiple times. Ryan Payne (HPV 3 and HPV 4) and Cameron Jocelyn (Junior 1 and Formula CR80 Cadet)both raced their way to victory circle multiple times.

On Saturday, the final heats were declared rain races; tire choice and pressure were the deciding factor for several of the days winners, including Dylan Nobile and Garrison Masters. Weather was not a factor for the races on Sunday, as it was clear and warm. Racing was tight and furious, with drivers enjoying the track layout that Moran Raceway offers. Over a mile long featuring an impressive 860 foot main straight-away, a 720 foot back straight, and 4 legitimate passing zones Moran provides the sprint kart racer challenges to spare.

Bridgestone, Burris / VP Racing, Dodson Engineering, AIM, DPK, Grand Products, Fleming Racing Engines, Nashs Karts, Full Throttle Racing, Miinch Motorsports, Horstman, Parts 4 Karts, Empire Karts, King Taco, Pitts Performance, TDC Sprockets and Woltjer Racing Engines, PKS Karting Supplies are among the sponsors who are supporting the 2005 IKF Southwestern Super Series.

Round 3 of the Southwestern Super Series will be held at Buttonwillow Raceway Park on April 2 & 3 in Buttonwillow, CA. At this event, St. Ours will again drive home his Racer Appreciation Year" theme by entering every driver who has competed in the first 3 rounds of the Southwestern Super Series in a drawing for a free kart chassis that will be given away trackside at the end of the race day on April 3, 2005.
