TeacherÂs Discovery is now providing teachers and schools with the opportunity to integrate motivation and fun in the classroom with its new line of Floor Treaders. Floor Treaders are full-color 20Â x 30Â images that are used on the floor that focus on specific topics for motivation.
Made of a temporary adhesive material that sticks to the floor or any surface, they are designed to look as if the image is coming up through the actual school floor, providing a new perspective for students and teachers.
ÂAs children grow older, their passion for learning frequently seems to shrink, said Jason Eastcott, a product developer for TeacherÂs Discovery. ÂLearning often becomes associated with drudgery instead of delight. A large number of students  more than one in four  leave school before graduating. Many more are physically present in the classroom but largely mentally absent; they fail to invest themselves fully in the experience of learning. Floor Treaders are a way to provide motivation in a fun and entertaining way.Â
Established in 1985, TeacherÂs Discovery (http://www.teachers-discovery.com) is a leading publisher of education materials in the United States. The company develops and distributes more than 8,000 supplemental educational products to support teachers in the classroom.
ÂThe floor is an area that hasnÂt yet been explored as a formal teaching tool, says Eastcott. ÂStudents are more likely to become innovative, intelligent adults, when teachers use some form of creativity to motivate learners. Floor Treaders generate student excitement, drawing them into the classroom with a positive attitude even before they sit at a desk. And they donÂt even take up often-needed wall space. They truly are a teacherÂs pet.Â
Five Floor Treaders designs are now available. Each design is subject-specific for the classroom: English, Social Studies, Foreign Language, Science and School Spirit.
