Five Stars
A Great Book for Older Kids! Reviewer: Alexandra (California)
Gift of the Ancient Grove is a wonderful story, full of strong, interesting characters. In this book, we are introduced to the world of trolls, elves, gnomes, and sprites, told through the adventure of Naida and her friend Randin. This world, and the young gnomes adventure will capture the imagination of all children. Naida and Randin set out on their unusual quest and encounter a wide variety of creatures. The character description leaves the reader feeling as though they can actually see, hear and smell the elves and their environments. This book is perfect for 8 to 12 year old readers. The language is age appropriate and descriptive. The characters are not trying to be teenagers before their time, a quality lacking in many childrens books today. However, this book is very fun to read for teens and adults as well.

Five Stars
Masterful Piece of Children's Literature SteveCA/USA (6/8/2004) The Naida's Quest Trilogy has it all. Characters come to life with vivid descriptions and unique personalities. A believable, engaging, mysterious plot takes us on a fantasy journey that rivals great works such as The Lord of the Rings and The Wizard of Oz. Naida gives young readers a strong female protagonist with thoughtful positive values. Randin provides humor, and shows how a character lacking confidence initially, can develop into a strong hero. The evil Lady Celina is a villain we can strongly dislike. The Gift of the Ancient Grove starts us on a Naida's epic journey to find her parents. Her work as a healer shows compassion and wisdom. As I read the book aloud to my class, there was a routine groan when I took our daily break, and many 'pleases' to read on. My fourth and fifth grade classes truly loved the books. I found it a joy to read aloud, with great rising action, and incredibly vivid descriptions. I highly recommend the Naida's Quest Trilogy to readers everywhere; it's a joy for teacher and student alike.
