Absolute Write Idol: A Free Worldwide Writing Competition

Think you can write? Enter an open writing competition this week and test yourself against a jury of your peers!

(PRWEB) March 19, 2005 -- Open to all writers, this is a writing competition modeled after American Idol/Pop Idol. To "audition," visit the Absolute Write Idol message boards at http://absolutewrite.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=64 and post a writing sample. Any genre, any topic, fiction or nonfiction, prose, poetry, screenplay, etc., 700 words or less. Excerpts from longer works (such as novels) are fine. Previously published pieces are fine. One entry per person. No entry fee.

More than 100 writing hopefuls entered in the first two days the contest opened.

Writers have until Monday, March 28, 2005 at midnight EST to get their audition entries in. Then the judges will have 2-3 days (approximately) to deliberate and choose the 10 finalists who will go on to compete to be the Absolute Write Idol. Those finalists will turn in pieces of writing on specific themes or topics each week of the competition.

Each week, everyone registered at Absolute Write is welcome to vote for his/her favorite. The person with the lowest votes each week will be eliminated until one writer is left.

Prize package includes a subscription to the Absolute Markets Premium Edition (www.absolutemarkets.com) for the top 3 finalists, books, a subscription to Poetry Contest Insider, and more, plus industry exposure (agents, publishers) for the grand prize winner.
