Santa Ynez, CA (PRWEB) March 20, 2005 -- Monty Roberts, internationally acclaimed horse trainer and bestselling author of The Man Who Listens to Horses, was honored on January 20th at the Ball der Equipage. He received the Silbernes Pferd (Silver Horse) award for lifetime achievement for his outstanding contributions to promoting the love of horses in Germany. The 2005 annual event took place at the Hotel Bayerischer Hof in Munich.

This year, the two bestowing organizations decided to reach beyond their geographical and political borders and honor Monty as the first foreign-born and the first American to receive this prestigious award. The organizers of this event, Monika Werther-Nicolas and Rene Nicolas are representatives of the Munchner Rennverein e.V (an organization devoted to horse racing) and the Verein der Deutschen Freizeitreiter e.V, (an organization devoted to German horse owners and leisure riders). They awarded this achievement to Monty because of his great and positive impact in Germany and with horses around the world.

The Silberne Pferd award is akin to an Academy Award in the United States movie industry. Only the most revered candidate can earn this important distinction. Some of the recipients in the past are Frank Sloothhak (show jumping), Herbert Mayer (Olympic show jumping), Ulrich Kirchoff and Hans Gunther Winkler (dressage), Ulla Salzgeber (Olympic dressage), Bodo Bettenberg and Nadine Capellman (Olympic dressage), Paul Schockenmohle (Olympic show jumping), Hans Muller and numerous other illustrious horsemen and horsewomen.
