AdventureWomen's founder Susan Eckert has watched the women's adventure travel market grow and change for more than two decades. Preview AdventureWomen's exciting summer and fall adventures for 2005.

Susan Eckert, owner and founder of AdventureWomen, Inc., the oldest adventure travel company specializing in trips for active women over 30 years of age, has watched the women’s travel market grow and change for more than two decades.

“When I started AdventureWomen 23 years ago, people used to ask my clients ‘What’s wrong with your marriage?’ when they traveled on a women only adventure with me. Now they ask that same question if a woman does not take at least one separate vacation a year with her girlfriends, sister, or even her mother! Traveling with other women, away from family and home, has become acceptable, desirable, and a rewarding experience,” says Susan.

The early ’80s niche market for women’s adventure travel has transformed to become an explosive trend in today’s travel industry. “Adventure vacations for women of average age 50 is the fastest growing segment of the travel market,” says Eckert. And she should know. She has been a pioneer in women’s vacations and adventure travel since 1982, catering exclusively to the women’s market since she began her business.
