EscapeMaker.com, the online guide to local weekend getaways and daytrips in the Northeast has just released its findings after a month long Spring weekend getaway survey.
The survey was based on a sample of 457 participants, comprised of 65% women and 35% men - all living within a 50-mile radius of New York City.
Respondents answered 10 questions ranging from what states they would travel to before June 1, 2005 to what activities they enjoy most.
Caylin Sanders, President of EscapeMaker.com commented "with a larger female respondent pool, it's no surprise that romantic getaways topped the list. Most travelers will drive to their destination and stay the whole weekend. Parks/scenic areas, biking and picking your own fruit were the most popular activities cited, with boating coming in a close fourth place."
Sanders also noted "knowing what activities and types of getaways are hot right now helps us provide more content to cater to our user's needs." In addition, our bed & breakfast, hotel, attraction and visitor's bureau clients can focus on tailoring packages with this new info in mind."
