Â?Gift of the Dreamtime: Awakening to the Divinity of TraumaÂ? is the true story of Harrell's healing from the after-effects of child sexual abuse, by entering ecstatic trance and learning what she needed for her emotional recovery.

Kelley Harrell, author of the newly released book “Gift of the Dreamtime," was still young enough to be sleeping in a crib when she had her first experiences of the paranormal, or supernatural.

What she saw then was forms around her who were "not Mom and Dad," said Harrell, now 33 years old and a technical writer by day. "I knew they were not here in bodies the way we're here."

As an adult, Harrell is firmly planted in the conventional world. A writer of computer software and systems manuals, she lives with her partner in Cary, NC, better known as a bedroom community for Research Triangle Park than for the shamanism, the ancient practice of connecting with the invisible spirit world, that Kelley Harrell also practices.

Harrell's book, “Gift of the Dreamtime," is the dramatic story of her otherworldly experience and, using her scientific precision, she includes in that book clear instructions on how the reader can make a similar spirit-world journey, with similar healing effects.

“Gift of the Dreamtime: Awakening to the Divinity of Trauma” is the true story of Harrell's healing from the after-effects of child sexual abuse, by entering ecstatic trance and learning what she needed for her emotional recovery.

For those unfamiliar or skeptical about this type of experience, the narrative is instead a fantastical fairy tale that is full of suspense.

The book is published by Spilled Candy, a press in Niceville, Florida, specializing in spiritual, mystical, pagan, Goddess, shamanic, metaphysical, Druidic, and mysterious subjects.

A native of Goldsboro, NC, Harrell said her purpose in the book is "to open readers to challenge their boundaries and beliefs to find within themselves well-being."

Harrell writes an intuitive insight column, “Muse,” for an international astrologer, and is co-founder of The Saferoom Project, a non-profit organization providing peer support for sexual assault survivors, their families and partners. She is a Certified Hypnotherapist and Reiki Master. Through her shamanic practice, Soul Intent Arts, she does soul readings for others, teaches shamanic healing techniques in individual sessions or in her Mystery School, as well as does various forms of energy work.
