The eve of the mastectomy, I threw a Farewell Party to say my goodbyes to Gloria, my right breast, and toasted Glorias imminent demise with some Sparkling Cider. I had six months of chemotherapy treatment that almost annihilated me, and six weeks of radiation therapy that almost burned me to a crisp. It was a long and arduous journey, but I am a born fighter. I am not ashamed to say that I turned to God. I gave my burden to the Lord."
Smiling Thru the Tears: a Breast Cancer Survivor Odyssey" is an autobiographical poetic account of a black womans struggle with breast cancer and the innovative way she handled her breast cancer which she dubbed DeMon. She humanized it and talked to DeMon several times daily explaining to DeMon why it had to leave, and demanding that it depart and never return..
