San Francisco International Fashion Week Returns to San Francisco in Fall 2005

San Francisco International Fashion Week (SFIFW) returns to San Francisco on October 20-22, 2005 at Fort Mason in San Francisco.

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) March 25, 2005 -- San Francisco International Fashion Week (SFIFW) returns to San Francisco on October 20-22, 2005 at Fort Mason in San Francisco.

This first-of-its-kind international fashion affair in San Francisco is all about glamour and sophistication. SFIFW will feature exclusive fashion shows showcasing Spring 2006 Prêt-à-Porter collections from the industrys top international names, an awards luncheon, top-notch entertainment, and spectacular pre- and post-show events. This is definitely an event tailored to the citys fashion conscious citizens.

Traditionally, fashion weeks in the United States focus on American based designers. San Francisco International Fashion Week is unique in that it embraces the diversity and talents of designers worldwide. Jacinta Law, producer of SFIFW explains, The vision of San Francisco International Fashion Week is to spotlight the city of San Francisco as the true multicultural city that it is through fashion, entertainment, and social events."

The previous year featured designers Lloyd Klein, Stephen Burrows, Esteban Cortazar, Zang Toi, Malini Ramani, Manish Arora, ChanPaul, Dimmer DVrsi and Joseph Domingo prior to the postponement of SFIFW due to hotel union labor disputes affecting San Franciscos hospitality industry.

In 2004, Gavin Newsom, San Francisco Mayor, proclaimed October 20-24, International Fashion Week. The mayor stated, International Fashion Week will be a destination and trade forum for the fashion and apparel markets offering new opportunities for the fashion industry while elevating San Francisco to the ranks of the worlds elite fashion capitals."

New additions to the 2005 event include: The International Style Lounge (an exhibit of twenty juried accessory designers), The International Design by Couture" Exhibit (a static haute couture show highlighting work from over twenty international designers) and daily industry seminars for fashion professionals. A free preview show will be held at the International Style Festival (ISF) at Union Square. The fashion show will open with a preview collection from one of the participating designers in SFIFW. The International Style Festival will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2005 at Union Square in San Francisco and the fashion show will begin at 3:00pm.

SFIFW is being held at Fort Mason in San Francisco located on 13 waterfront acres near San Franciscos Marina District and the Golden Gate Bridge. The Fort Mason Center is a successfully converted military base that is both a historic landmark and an ever-changing reflection of the dynamic Bay Area community. More than 15,000 events take place at Fort Mason each year, and more than 1.5 million people visit annually.
