Orlando, FL (PRWEB) March 28, 2005 -- Travel Sentry announces the international expansion of the Travel Sentry system to the United Kingdom. Travel Sentry has just concluded an agreement with Her Majestys Customs and Excise (HMCE) to implement the system at several of their facilities in the UK. The Travel Sentry system allows travelers to lock their bags and baggage screeners to access them if necessary.

Travel Sentry Certified locks use a special, secure system that is exclusive to authorized governmental organizations." said John Vermilye, CEO and Founder of Travel Sentry, the organization that developed the locks and standards in conjunction with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) in 2003. Security Agents can easily identify a Travel Sentry lock, unlock the bag for inspection if necessary, and then re-lock it and send it on its way."

In 2003, Travel Sentry Certified locks were developed through unprecedented cooperation between luggage, lock and travel accessory manufacturers, retailers, and the TSA. Travel Sentry Certified locks carry the red and white diamond-shaped Travel Sentry logo and a special TSA code on the bottom. This expansion to the United Kingdom is in keeping with Travel Sentrys mission to provide solutions to responsible governments and security agencies worldwide. UK Customs Agents at the three main London area airports are expected to begin implementing the system by the end of March 2005.

HM Customs and Excise is a Government department in the United Kingdom responsibility for protecting that country from illegal imports of drugs, alcohol and tobacco smuggling and tax fraud as well as collecting VAT, other taxes and customs duties. For more information visit http://www.hmce.gov.uk.

Travel Sentry Certified locks can be used by the traveler to secure his or her luggage but can be opened by authorized governmental security agencies (like the TSA or HMCE) with special tools if an inspection is needed. The locks are available at mass merchants, specialty luggage stores, catalogs and online websites. For more information visit www.TravelSentry.org.
