New York, NY (PRWEB) March 28, 2005
web2zone, the nation's leading retail Cyber Center, announced today that it has been selected by ABIT Computer Corporation to host the ACON5 North American Regional and National video game qualifier competitions. These events are part of the recently announced ACON5 Global Gaming Event being sponsored by ABIT, Intel, ATI, LG, and Corsair. Held in over 20 countries and territories, ACON5 invites avid gamers from 150 cities across the globe to one of the world's largest, most exciting gaming tournaments.
Utilizing web2zone's new Cyber Square Alliance (CSA) network of premium game centers, the ACON5 Regional Qualifiers will be held simultaneously on April 23-24, 2005 in the New York, Chicago, Dallas and Los Angeles areas. Players from the United States and Canada are eligible to compete. The "professional" video game tournaments will feature two popular PC-based games - Valve's Half-Life: Counter Strike (1.6) and Blizzard Entertainment's Warcraft III: Frozen Throne.
Regional winners will receive an all expenses paid trip to the ACON5 US National Qualifier being held at The Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) on Thursday, May 19, 2005 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The National Qualifier will determine who will represent North America at the ACON5 Global Finals being held in a yet undisclosed exotic location.
"We are very excited to be working with ABIT to host their ACON5 North American tournaments," says Ed Tomasi, web2zone's Director of Marketing. "It's an opportunity that allows us to showcase our national Cyber Square(sm) Alliance network of premium LAN centers."
"web2zone's CSA network is clearly the most knowledgeable and professional organization for venue-based competitive video game tournaments in North America.", says Harry Yen, ABIT's ACON5 North American Events Director. "We look forward to working with CSA's premium network."
