Horror Authors Play Poker for Charity
In a charity event at the World Horror Convention famous authors will compete in a Texas Hold 'Em tournament. The festivities are sponsored by Raw Dog Screaming Press in support of the novel Play Dead by Michael A. Arnzen.
(PRWEB) March 27, 2005 -- In support of the forthcoming novel Play Dead by Michael A. Arnzen, Raw Dog Screaming Press is sponsoring a poker tournament at the 2005 World Horror Convention in New York City. The event will be held at the Park Central New York Hotel on Friday, April 8th, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
This tournament will feature twenty authors competing under Texas Hold 'Em rules. Participants include F. Paul Wilson, Jack Ketchum, John Skipp, Tom Monteleone, Michael Arnzen, David Morrell, Christopher Golden, Carlton Mellick III, Monica O'Rourke, Michael Huyck, Adam Pepper, Bill Breedlove, Valarie Thorpe, Simon Wood, Chris Treagues, and Jeremy Robert Johnson with others to be announced. All proceeds will go to the charity of the winner's choice. Afterwards there will be a mass autograph signing where fans can meet all the authors involved. Later that night Raw Dog Screaming Press will also be hosting a release party free to the public.
The World Horror Convention will be held April 7th-April 10th, 2005, and features many events with celebrities from film, literature, and visual art. Michael Arnzen has been publishing ground-breaking horror fiction and dark poetry since 1989. His first novel, Grave Markings, received both the Bram Stoker and International Horror Guild awards. His latest books are a flash fiction collection, 100 Jolts: Shockingly Short Stories and a poetry book, Freakcidents. Arnzen holds a PhD in English from the University of Oregon and is presently an Associate Professor at Seton Hill University, where he teaches horror and suspense fiction in the countrys only graduate program in Writing Popular Fiction.
The high-stakes thriller Play Dead will be released in hardcover on August 23, 2005 by Raw Dog Screaming Press. RDSP is a publisher of dark, offbeat, and deviant fiction in paperback, hardcover, eBook, and special editions. The company was started in 2003 and will have 24 titles in print by the end of 2005.
