Need-to-Know" Homeland Security Training Conference Scheduled in May
A restricted, in-depth, intensive anti-terrorism training course. Eligible participants are regular and reserve city, state and federal law enforcement agencies, military personnel and military academy and criminal justice college graduates and instructional staff. May 23-25, Sheraton National Hotel, Washington DC
ARLINGTON, VA (PRWEB) March 30, 2005 -- Over the past two decades, while democratic nations turned a blind-eye to threats from the Middle-east, terrorist groups quietly rewrote the rules of engagement.
As security strategies changed, terrorists altered and adapted tactics and techniques to carry out future attacks.
An upcoming need-to-know" anti-terrorism conference The New Realities of Terrorism" will address an eligible audience of regular and reserve city, state and federal law enforcement agencies, military personnel and military academy and criminal justice college graduates and instructional staff from across the country. Scheduled May 23-25, Sheraton National Hotel, Washington DC, the 3-day training sessions will focus on new challenges associated with terrorism.
Designed to examine the deeply-rooted true dedication and commitment of terrorists, and their ever-evolving nature as enemies to freedom and democracy, the conference is sponsored by the International Security Assessment and Consultant Group (ISAC), Arlington VA.
Among the list of presenters are key homeland security trainers including award-winning author, counter-terrorism consultant and communications director for the International Association for Counterterrorism & Security Professionals, Craig O. Thompson; and Brig. Gen. (Ret.) Jonathan H. Cofer, former deputy director for anti-terrorism/force protection for the Joint Staff, D.C., now the senior executive vice president for force protection at MZM, Inc.
Recipient of the International Benjamin Franklin Awards Silver Award for his book Omar"-- as early as May 2001 and, in a September 10 2001 3-hour radio interview at KFI Los Angeles--Thompson warned that Osama bin Laden, suicide bombers, poor airport security and other factors would combine to kill thousands of people on our homeland. Thompson delivers keynotes and workshops on homeland preparedness, bio-terror, business continuity planning and anti-terror techniques.
Cofer, a highly decorated 20-year army veteran, was involved in anti-terrorism, force protection and issues involving Americas security long before homeland security became a household word. Calling terrorists adaptive adversaries", he specializes in instructional tactics, techniques and procedures dealing with the ever-evolving terrorist arsenal.
This intensive training provides the expertise and skills required to create a well-planned anti-terrorism program, essential to every level of security. Participants will cover areas such as:
• The Al Qaeda terrorist handbook -- how it is used to recruit, instruct and bring coherence to the worldwide terrorist family, its origins and how it should guide us for Americas security needs
• Continued training of Madrassa school children and college-level youth, ongoing for generations, and their mission and vision-so little understood by the Western world
• The Russian and Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) connection for Black-market trading of WMD and other dangerous contraband
• Joint-ventures between terrorists and criminal organizations that traffic drugs and other illegal goods-to finance their operations
• Tactics to improve safety measures against terrorism
• How to become as adaptive to changes as terrorists, recognize local vulnerabilities, and create flexible approaches to overcome lack of preparedness funding and other system weaknesses within our large and small cities
• Techniques to identify potential suicide attacks and how to respond to an active shooter
• Solutions to help participants build community inter-connectivity" and bring deeper levels of preparedness to the communities-at-large in which they serve.
