Dallas Lawyer Named to Texas Health Panel
Mac Stewart Hopes to Improve Doctor-Patient Communication
Dallas, TX (PRWEB) March 31, 2005 -- The Commissioner of the Texas Department of State Health Services has appointed Dallas lawyer James Mac" Stewart to a six-year term as a member of the Texas Medical Disclosure Panel.
The policy-making group, made up of attorneys and physicians from around the state, was created by the Texas Legislature to draft and implement the rules which govern the informed consent process. The panel meets several times a year in Austin, and sets standards for doctors to follow when explaining the risks and benefits of certain medical procedures to their patients. Mr. Stewart is one of three lawyers in the group.
