Faison Bell, Jr. will head the PTA program at the medical career college. Bell has many years experience in physical therapy as well as a Masters degree in the rapidly expanding PTA field. According to the U.S. Department of Labors Bureau of Statistics, employment of Physical Therapist Assistants is expected to grow much faster than the average through the year 2012. Physical Therapist Assistants assist Registered Physical Therapists in patient procedures such as: exercise for increasing strength, endurance, coordination and range of motion; electrical stimulation to activate paralyzed muscles; instruction in carrying out everyday activities in the use of helping devices; and the application of massage, heat, cold, light, water or electricity to relieve pain or improve the condition of the muscle or skin.
