The Village At Arrowhead Shopping Center, 20050 N. 67th Avenue in Glendale added Ten Thousand Villages, a fair trade and non profit store specializing in handcrafted items from around the world, to their array of specialty stores.
(PRWEB) April 2, 2005 -- The Village At Arrowhead Shopping Center, 20050 N. 67th Avenue in Glendale added Ten Thousand Villages, a fair trade and non profit store specializing in handcrafted items from around the world, to their array of specialty stores.
The diverse items from Ten Thousand Villages are acquired from artisans in 32 countries around the world such as India, Peru, Bangladesh, Haiti and Vietnam. Ten Thousand Villages chooses handicrafts that reflect and reinforce rich cultural traditions, that are environmentally sensitive and which appeal to the North American consumer.
Ten Thousand Villages works with artisans who would otherwise be unemployed or underemployed," said Clinton Reynolds, store manager. This income helps pay for food, education, healthcare or housing. Approximately 70% of the artisans are women. Ten Thousand Villages is a nonprofit program of Mennonite Central Committee."
