Epinoisis Announces the Real-Time version of Digital Ear® a software application that allows accurate conversion of live audio (e.g. a singing human voice) into MIDI.

Epinoisis Software, the leader in music recognition software, today announced the Real-Time version of award-winning Digital Ear® for Windows®, a software application that allows accurate conversion of live audio (e.g. a singing human voice) into MIDI. The conversion occurs in real-time with the minimum latency possible.

The latest version extends the value of Digital Ear® by transforming it into a powerful MIDI controller. Now, musicians have the ability to produce MIDI output without using the traditional keyboard, but by directly singing to the microphone. The MIDI data are sent to a music synthesizer for playback with any timbre, or can be recorded by a sequencer for mixing with other tracks, viewing the notation or further processing.

The ability to capture a performance the nuance and expressive power of the human music player or vocalist depends on dynamics and articulation, and many audio-to-MIDI software programs fall short in that regard. Digital Ear® sends high-resolution pitch events closely matching those of the original sound. Musical effects like vibrato, tremolo, pitch-bend, or portamento are faithfully converted and reproduced into any voice of your synthesizer.

"The long awaited Real-Time version of Digital Ear received an enthusiastic welcome from our existing use base and other musicians worldwide” said Argiris Kranidiotis, director of Epinoisis Software. "It’s like suddenly being able to play any musical instrument, just by using your voice."

The new version features a faster and more accurate recognition engine with a 5ms time resolution. New audio processing tools are also available: Area correct tool, which allows users to correct pitch errors easily at a sweep of the mouse. Tempo tool, that speed up or slows down the sequence. Magnifying glass for viewing the voice features in more detail. Quick Settings for the switching between common settings at click of the mouse.
