International law firm Salans is pleased to announce that Warren Rothman, a well-respected name in the Chinese market, has joined the firms Shanghai office as Asian Counsel.
(PRWEB) April 3, 2005 -- International law firm Salans is pleased to announce that Warren Rothman, a well-respected name in the Chinese market, has joined the firms Shanghai office as Asian Counsel.
Warren has been practising law in China since 1980, when he represented a major multinational company in projects during the earliest wave of foreign investment and trade in Chinas opening to the outside world. Warrens legal career began with a leading Wall Street law firm, Cahill Gordon & Reindel, where he worked on numerous securities issuances, mergers and acquisitions, and project financings. Warren joins Salans from the Beijing office of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison. Prior to that, he was a strategic planner in his own boutique China management consulting company, which specialised in the information technology sector and other highly regulated industries.
Warren is fluent in written Chinese and spoken Mandarin as well as Spanish. He received his B.A., M.A., and LL.B from Yale University and is a member of the Yale Law School Executive Committee.
Warren focuses his time on foreign direct investment, mergers and acquisitions, project finance, technology licensing, and financial and capital markets covering a wide range of industries. His clients include new industries such as internet measurement, in which he was instrumental in obtaining a license for the first legally authorised service of its kind. He is currently serving as an arbitrator in New York involving a major China investment. He has also assisted the Shanghai government in a major project financing.
Commenting on the move, Warren Rothman stated I am really delighted to join Salans in Shanghai. Salans has an exciting practice, and being part of a truly integrated international law firm with major presences in Western and Eastern Europe and Central Asia offers me a brand new perspective on China and China legal practice. Managing Partner of Salans in Shanghai, Edward Epstein, is one of only a handful of lawyers to have his depth and length of experience after 20 years in China. Working with Edward and the excellent team that he has assembled to further build Salans China practice is a real pleasure".
Edward Epstein stated that Warren Rothman is a great new asset in our Shanghai team and an acknowledgement of our leading reputation in China."
