The Hand That Rules the World - It Still Rocks the Cradle

A Mother's work is never done. And that's especially true if mother is trying to take care of a baby and run a small business at the same time. Many fail and end up leaving their children in daycare to head back to a traditional workplace. But help has arrived!

(PRWEB) April 3, 2005 -- William Ross Wallace, 1819-1891, penned a verse called "The Hand That Rocks the Cradle." In it, he praised women and their influence on their families and as a result, the world around them. He offers a prayer to bless them in their most important work . . . raising children . . . "For the hand that rocks the cradle is the hand that rules the world."

Georgene Freedman of Hamptonburgh, New York and Lori Ramsey of Heber Springs, Arkansas, partners of Baby Gift City (www.babygiftcity.com) would totally agree. They're among millions of 21st century women who've faced the dilemma of balancing a desire to excel professionally with what they perceive as a most important and very traditional Mother/Child relationship. Their own dilemmas solved however, they've moved on to help other women entrepreneurs conquer this issue.

Hard-working professional businesswomen in there own right, they are painfully aware that since Wallace's time, much has changed. But they also believe that women remain the single greatest influence in the lives of children as they go on to become leaders, volunteers, and perhaps business owners and parents themselves. They know that a mother's precious words and loving presence affect a child's view of the world and reaction to it throughout his or her life . . . making staying home with children even more important for today's mothers than it was in the 50's, prior to the Women's Movement.

"Children still learn at their mothers' knees," says Georgene. And while mothers can be available at home for their children without losing themselves and their professional identities in the process, it's really hard to find balance . . . hard to get all the right elements in place and manage your time to be a good Mom and a serious business woman too. Baby Gift City is living proof that women can have it all.

Lori further explains, "We had a dream to create a web site with unique and time-tested family-friendly products being offered by professional vendors you can trust." "We achieved this with Baby Gift City."

While they live many hundreds of miles apart, Georgene and Lori truly enjoy working together. Lori and I have the same level of ambition and the same aspiration to succeed. We think so much alike, it is uncanny," emphasized Georgene. "Our simpatico is truly amazing at times," Lori agrees. We often finish each others sentences and know exactly what the other one is thinking."

That like-thinking helped the two develop the Baby Gift City concept, where business-minded women can network and learn together . . . "an environment where Georgene and I can offer our combined experience and resources to mentor and assist talented, creative women who are just beginning their journey as both mothers and entrepreneurs," says Lori. Adds Georgina, "As we work with these entrepreneurs we'll have an accomplishment to be proud of . . . knowing that we're making it possible for small business owners to build a viable enterprise for the future, while also providing high end products, excellent customer service and a safe shopping environment for our customers. "

Georgene, mother of two young adults, is herself a talented jewelry designer whose belief that "home is where the heart is" led her to create her own jewelry line called Heartbeat Designs, most of which salute the mother-child relationship. Her online designs have just entered the mass-market arena, now selling in top retail chains. Lori, who has four younger children, is a published author and creative web designer, and also sells basic necessities online for pregnant and new mothers and babies at Beyond Fertility. These seasoned parents and jugglers of all things, fully understand the difficulties small businesses face with the high cost of advertising and what women face as they come to terms with the good, the bad and the ugly of personal ambition and evolving parenting styles and decisions. Motivated by their own love of raising children, and strong desire to succeed, these two dedicated ladies see their venture as a way of honoring that task of child raising and those who do it. "Dream it, achieve it!" Thats the buzz at BabyGiftCity.com.
