The Way To Become The Public Speaking Champion of The World

Amoskeag Better Communicator Toastmasters held its public speaking contest on March 30, 2005 at 7:00pm in Amoskeag Business Incubator. ABI is located at 33 S. Commercial St. Patricia Turner of Weare won the motivational speaking contest and, Betty Dingman of Henniker won the impromptu speaking contest, they will be representing the club at the area contest on April 16th, 2pm at Nesmith Library in Windham, NH.

Manchester, NH (PRWEB) April 3, 2005 -- On March 30, 2005 at 7:00pm Amoskeag Better Communicator Toastmasters had its public speaking contest. Members of Toastmasters range from recent college graduate to retiree. The first contest was called Table Topics. Any club member may participate, regardless of their experience level. The goal of each contestant was to present an impromptu speech for 1-2 minutes. The contestants were Hsiu Chang, Lisa Blais, Betty Dingman and Alla Dorogopulko. Each contestant had to answer the same posted by the contest MC. Contestants waited in another area and were brought in one at a time to respond to the question.

Second was the International Speech Contest. The goal was to give a 5-7 minutes prepared motivational speech. Contestants were Pat Turner, Hsiu Chang, Betty Dingman and Steve Breault. Each contestant was required to have completed at least six speeches from the Toastmasters basic manual.

The winner of each contest at the club level will advance to the area level where he or she will compete against other winners. The contest schedule goes through the following levels: Club, Area, Division, District, Regional, and finally to the International contest where the winners compete with the best from all over the world.

The area contest will be on April 16th, 2-5pm at Nesmith Library in Windham. Go to www.nesmithlibrary.org for directions, the event is free. The Division A Spring Contest will be on May 14th, 4-9pm at Countryside Community Church, located on 815 Main Street in Contoocook, NH, the event is $12
