After Operation Confidence, a grass root nonprofit organization was seen on ABC Extreme Makeover Home Edition receiving the keys to their new office donated by Matt Plaskoff, President of Plaskoff Constructions and the company who built the Mackey Family a new home, the organization has been moved forward to make history again.
Aside from searching the entire Los Angeles area looking for employment opportunities for people with disabilities, in the next few months Operation Confidence will petition the International Olympic Committee. The organization is requesting the Totally Confident International Drill Team (TCID-Team) march in the Opening Ceremony of the 2008 Paralympics in Beijing, China. The drill teams goal is to have a person with a disability from countries participating in the able bodied 2008 Olympics march with the TCID-Team in the Paralympics.
The TCID-Team is now looking for national members beginning in Los Angeles. Members must be dedicated, uplifting, high-energy individuals with physical disabilities in good health and living in the city of Los Angeles and West Valley areas.
In 1982, Operation Confidence created the team, known then as the Totally Confident Disabled Drill Team. President Ronald Reagan made it possible for the team to make history as the first group to perform in the able-bodied 1984 Olympics. The team represented, at that time, the 33 million Americans with disabilities. Today, their mission is to again march representing the 55 million Americans with disabilities, including our disabled veterans and the 700 million people with disabilities worldwide.
The TCID-Team is also in need of additional letters of support from major corporations and organizations to accompany the letters from Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mayor James Hahn, Senator Dianne Feinstein, the Honorable Yvette Jarvis, Pacific Rim Chamber of Commerce and many others. Visit Mr. Siva YamÂs, President of the USA China Chamber of Commerce who also supports the team. Website address's is: http://www.usccc.org.
