Research and Markets : Is 3G Going to Be the Way Forward?
Research and Markets (researchandmarkets.com/reports/c15190) has announced the addition of 3G Deployment Update to their offering.
Dublin (PRWEB) April 7, 2005 -- Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/reports/c15190) has announced the addition of 3G Deployment Update to their offering.
3G was envisioned as the technology that would help wireless carriers reduce their dependence on voice services, and transition to a new data-centric world. Afterall, the wired world had made the transition to the Internet in a big way, why not wireless as well? The problem was deploying successful wireless high-speed services has proved much more challenging than anticipated. Early 3G technology was buggy, handsets very expensive, and the battery life of these handsets was very short, with less than an hour of talk-time in some cases.
Still, carriers deployed 3G systems, first in Japan and Korea, and then in the rest of the world, with new deployments occurring somewhere in the world almost every day.
This 3G deployment report tracks and lists 3G deployments (both CDMA2000 EV-DO and WCDMA) by technology, date of deployment and country. Included for each deployment is the date in which the technology was made commercially available, as well as information on the carrier's 3G infrastructure provider and the amount of any 3G contracts announced.
