Corporations underestimate the liabilities associated with incomplete contractor files
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) April 5, 2005
FM Solutions unveiled today enhanced functionality to its' WorkOasis contractor management technology platform designed to help corporations reduce the liability associated with certifying and managing large numbers of suppliers. In response to the heightened awareness created by the $11 million judgment against Wal-Mart, on March 18th, 2005, for alleged use of illegal workers; WorkOasis released a contractor certification application that documents compliance to OSHA, EPA, EEOC and Employment laws, including the verification of employment eligibility.
The application works by a corporation requiring its' contractors to register on the WorkOasis website. WorkOasis acts as an independent 3rd party and provides a centrally hosted application for the contractor to enter information regarding liability insurance, workers compensation, business licenses, and compliance to Federal OSHA, EPA, EEOC and Employment law. WorkOasis charges the contractor an annual certification fee and provides the corporate client with free work order management software for processing service transactions.
"Corporations underestimate the liabilities associated with incomplete contractor files," states, Bob Dickhaus, President and CEO of FM Solutions. "Due to the nature of the facility management process, which requires fast response to unexpected building and environmental problems, as many as 50% of the contractors used by a typical Fortune 1000 company are uncertified. The risks of non-compliance are just now being understood with the recent Wal-Mart judgment and the increased scrutiny of business processes required by Sarbanes Oxley certification." The US Department of Commerce estimates it costs US Corporations over $20 billion a year in claims due to uninsured and uncertified contractors.
WorkOasis is a web-based contractor management application owned and operated by FM Solutions, LLC of Atlanta, GA. For more information, contact Glenn Dorchester (678) 627-8268 or visit http://www.workoasis.com.
