The auction is live on ebay, and can be seen by clicking through from http://www.ExploreTheUnexplored.com.

The winning bidder will receive the once-in-a-lifetime chance to bring five friends and delve into the unexplored, uncharted depths of the earth. The American Cave Conservation Association and the staff of Hidden River Cave invite interested bidders to take advantage of this opportunity to accompany a scientific survey team in exploring the unknown. As this is an historic adventure, members of the media will be present as the winning bidder and friends exit the cave.

Hidden River Cave, located in the city of Horse Cave, Kentucky, has more than eight miles of known passageways and many tantalizing unexplored leads. The cave is located in the Mammoth Cave region where the longest caves in the world have been found. The “Explore the Unexplored” adventure is designed to be a great weekend getaway. Included with the exploration are helmets, lights, caving equipment, two nights hotel accommodations, and all meals.

The expedition will take place on a Friday – Sunday weekend mutually agreed upon by the winning bidder and the staff of Hidden River Cave, and must take place sometime between the close of auction and August 30, 2005.
